I see a lot of Domain wanted ads that are looking for brandable, made up words. First off any name is brandable just requires marketing, advertising and money. WAXOO is brandable if you start seeing ads, start seeing a product named WAXOO it is now a brand. Same is true for any name.( with some semblance of a word) SO why are people stating they have $,$$$ to $$,$$$ budgets for a made up name when they could just make one up and reg themselves, Generics are one thing, LLL another, but Just a made up name anyone can do why someone would pay $10,000 I don't understand and I really don't believe either I think it a good way to get a lot of people to make up a name and reg and then show them, so you get people being your branding firm for free.

Would you pay $,$$$ to $$,$$$ for something that is not a real or known word ?

Thank you

they are looking for a magic name like 'google' which lends itself to development, but I think you are thinking this is 'fools gold'. The idea is that a big company will have a business plan and then pay megabucks for a short memorable 1 word 5/6 L name which has been regged for $10. This is the masterplan for waxoo :sold:

In terms of companies, there are some companies that will come up with advertising schemes before obtaining a domain name. After investing lots of resources into the advertising planning, they will spend a pretty penny to ensure they get their domain. Resellers is a whole different ballgame. I normally would not buy brandable domains unless I was an end user or the prices were very inexpensive.

Another reason might be that thay want to find a domain that has been "aged" and may have backlinks as well as some traffic in order to speed things along... Just a thought.

I recently had to find a brandable name for a client.
They also had a list of names but wanted to see if I could find a good domain that might be better since they only checked unregistered names.

The problem is you can't always give ALL the details you really need to give. You have to give really general terms.

They ended up registering one of their own choices, but a few of the domains given were actually good, with reasonable prices.

It's were someone post names that just make no sense like klikkle, foghut or ghyme & say it's pronouncible but more like a huge typo domain that you have to wonder what people are thinking off when quoting prices. Instead of bad domains I'd truly rather register a dot net, org, us, info or jp.
