Someone wants to buy my domain

A porn video producer wants to buy my domain. Evidently they've created a porn movie based on the title of my domain. http://www.notthebrxdys.com (only change the 'x' to an 'a') They have already purchased several other domain names, i assume they were untaken, and they have created a myspace for the movie.

I posted some of the specifics of this in the adult forum.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had this happen and what my domain is worth? Especially to someone like this.

I suggest you ask them to offer you first to see where they are at.

Your domain is worth how much the producer is willing to pay, and in their "business" they have money to use.

Well, I think this is a win-win situation for you...the name is already being advertised.

It's like if a sequel is being made and the big name star in it gets the money he wants. Without him, the movie won't do as good. Without your domain, they might lose some potential viewers.

I think you also have to take into account that porn movies aren't exactly blockbuster hits... you aren't gonna have tons of people looking for the website of some random low budget porn movie, especially when they make about 1,000 a week... I'd probably hope for a decent offer but don't delude yourself into thinking its worth a ton of money.

I believe it's more a matter of how valuable the domain is to the buyer and in this case, it would seem yours fit very well with their new..ahem.. production.

They have a budget for this even though not big, but I believe they will be willing to spend in the range of high $xxx.

Ask him how much he's offering and you should be able to get around 10% to 15% above that as the final price.

Good Luck!

I guess, if this domain means a lot to you like it has sentimental values, then dont sell it.
if not i guess just accept the offer, because it's quite hard selling a 3 word domain after all.

how i wish somebody would even send me an email regarding my domains.

anyway good luck.

True. This will probably be the only buyer you'll ever find for this domain. It's not exactly a great domain in general. You may make some money off of parking it when the movie is released, but like I said, it's not going to be a blockbuster hit, so you'd probably be better off getting a few $xxx for it.

Should I put it up for auction and let this guy know it's out there?

I suppose first I should wait for an offer from him and then decide if it's worth what he's offering.

seriosly, i think if u put it up for an auction its gonna be difficult.
i suggest you wait for his offer first.
it's really quite a difficult domain to sell in future, so if it doesn't mean much to you.
just let it go.

Thanks, that's what I figured. I still wanted to get the appraisal, just to have some idea. And I agree, waiting for his offer is the best thing to do at this time. As I said, I don't want the site anymore, I don't want anything to do with his movie, not at all interested in any affiliation. I just want a fair amount for my domain name.

It's my family site. I'll have to come up with a new domain, create a new site, update everyone, change my email, explain about the new site. It's quite the hassle.

Well if it's a site that you actually use and has meaning to you, then I wouldn't be so quick to sell it. Wait to see what he offers and if it's not something you feel is worth all the hassle, explain that to him and make him pay a decent price for it. Otherwise it seems a bit pointless to sell it. I was under the impression that it was just some random domain you registered to resell.

I don't intend to keep it at this point. I'm too worried that I would have people I didn't want going to my family website. And looking at pictures of my kids, possibly in inappropriate ways. Unless I make the whole site private.

It it was a regular movie, I'd be "all right, I'm keeping my site".
