are you positive this is legit- doesnt sound like the way they would buy a domain

This sounds fishy to me. Reply with $10,000 and if they ask for an appraisal in the reply, its a scam! It's a common one which catches out quite a few people.

what should i do?

I would imagine they are acting as a buying agent for someone who wants the name and has employed GoDaddy to aquire it for them. I would reply with a purchase price of at least $1,000 as the potential buyer has had to pay a non refundable fee to GoDaddy of $60 as well as commission on the sale price. Therefore they must be pretty keen on gaining the name. You can always come down if you are needing the sale. All the best! :)

Now doing a search on that seems to bring up a couple of trademark cases from GoDaddy. This seems legitimate in my eyes, but you had better call GoDaddy and ask for that person, just incase :)

To me it seems like GoDaddy is trying to protect their trademark by buying any domain or host-related "daddy" domain :D

I'd ask for $5,000 and walk away very happy :)

that's the problem, i don't know how much to sell it off..
they asked me to give them a "reasonable" price..
but how much is "reasonable"?

drewski83: i guess they go for .com/.net/.org?

I'd say $500 is reasonable. Let's be realistic, you won't find anyone else offering more than $10 for this domain.

Something seems amiss here, IMHO. :|
She is their Trademarkโ„ข Administrator?

Please copy and paste your exact email exchange (including her initial approach "name a price" email to you) here thus far ... :gl: :talk:
Thanks for the assist.

I would tell them if they really want the name to make you the very best offer they can afford to pay for such a premium name. Tell them it is your policy to always have the potential buyer make an offer on a name he/she is interested in. Tell them you will sincerely consider their offer if it is anywhere near what you think the name is worth.

Be polite but positive with your request. It is always best to have the other party make the initial offer if at all possible.

Do what Jeff suggests.... Jeff maybe can this get moved to legal section? I'm biting my tongue (or fingers in this case) to avoid saying what is on my mind.

yes she first emailed me for infringements..
after explaining to them, then they wanted to buy my domain as it's not infringing any trademark

Seems kinda odd... GD doesn't even have possesion of hostdaddy.com, wouldn't they spend the money to acquire the .COM first before the .org?
