Social Network Software Help

Hello everyone,
I have a question:

I wanted to build a social network on my site, well not build, but either use free or buy a social network software. I already know about ning, but not too sure about all the fees (my site receives a lot of uniques a day, and this could make the units (bandwidth) go high).

So, if anyone can help, maybe list some good social network software, free or pay.
