Had a look at the YouTube site earlier, and saw a wide selection of video clips that would be ideal for a .tv site that I would like to develop.

On the pages for the video clips, there is a part of code that you can use to embed the video clip within your site.

I was just wondering about this. Is this ok to do ?? Is there a limit to the number of clips you can embed ??

I have tried reading through the terms and conditions page of YouTube, but fell asleep on the second paragraph.

Anyone have any experience with using YouTube content on their websites ??

Thanks

I imagine youtube is quite familiar with people hotlinking vids since they provide the html code for you although I dont know if they require a backlink or not. You can also try and contact the poster and see if they can email you the vid to directly run off your provider.

Ofcourse it's okay to do. That's the purpose of having the embeded player URL's or custom URL's for each video on YouTube. If a poster doesn't want others to embed their videos they have the option to disable this feature.

Thanks for the replies Guys.

It is much appreciated.
Been trying to put together a selection of clips for my site greekislands.tv site.

The clips and site is just a temporary one for the moment, as due to time constraints, I wont be able to get it up and running how I want to. At least it should be better than a normal "parked" page.

Anyway, thanks again for the replies.

IrishMat,

I did a copy and paste of the embed code and had no problems at all.
On dialup the clip can take a while to load, but on broadband, its pretty instant. What conenction are you using to check the pages ??

If you paste your html code here, we might be able to have a look at what could be the problem.

Just to be a pain in the $^%*. You're not excused from violation of third party rights (e.g if someone on youtube posted copyright material owned by someone else without permission on youtube for viral distribution) just because someone else published the content first - so be careful.

Grant and Chris are 100% right You Tube is a joke people post videos of porns and the family guy for example VIVID VIDEO and FOX did not post these, so you have no right to embed these on your site. People need to realize because its on YOU TUBE does not mean its ok to copy.

I threw up some videos on PhunnyVideos.com ... a site I never really got around to working on...

I have to admit that some of the videos posted on there was pretty poor, including way too much home made porn and strip shows, etc.

However, I was able to find a decent selection of short clips for my site. I dont think any of those would have copyright issues, but it is a good warning to others who are thinking of using content from the site.
