On these expired names that don't drop and get auctioned off, Snapnames does pay a small percentage of the final bid price to the original registrant. It works out to 1/8th of the final price. I've actually made a few hundred bucks off names I let expire at Netsol over the past couple years.

I have noticed TDnam has "expired names auctions" starting at $110, one even at $1220 today. Who gets that money? The original registrant or Godaddy? The more expensive ones....what they presume to be better names or perhaps they have PR or alexa ranking? I haven't checked.
