Snapnames.com hacked!!

i just went to snapnames.com and came up with the following message

Lol, I gave snapnames my cc info just yesterday. It must be on top of the list when hacker got in

Please know that neither our database nor our site were directly hacked tonight; rather, the nameservers at the registrar where the "snapnames.com" domain resides were temporarily changed to point elsewhere. This has been fixed at the source, but depending on what is cached at your provider it might not be fixed for you yet.

Also know that were someone to actually ever hack our database, the credit card numbers we keep on file are stored fully encrypted. Just a hack would not be enough to compromise our customer info.

And finally, of course Moniker had absolutely nothing to do with this.

thanks for the info, i am glad you sorted it out. it still shows up hacked when viewed from australia. but i guess that will change later on.

Very and very interesting. i am not hacking, but i know one guy, who knows lot's of holes in known scripts. One mistake in script can be reason for lose informacion and be hacked. Secont roblem - bugs in servers. old software with no updates, or old updates, or new bugs.

Hmm... My site got hacked from iran/united arab emeriates. Which is why I now block people from there from accessing my site.

I'm not sure what kind of message is trying to be sent, but I think if they wanted to do some real damage, they would have done something with the recent wmf (windows meta file) security hole.

I know when this guy threatened namepros, Ron took precautionary steps to keep him out as much as possible.

We'll see what happens.
