For anyone who's firmiliar with snapnames I was just woundering how things worked over there.

For example there a couple names there I would like to have one is now in live auction and has a day left and min bid is $49. So if I bid the $49 and no one else does I get the name for $49 right, is there any other hidden fees I should know about does that include the cost of registering it or is that seprate. Also if no one bids on it what happens to it.

Thanks

Another question whats the deal with the min bid did somebody actually bid this amount or is that the starting bid that snap names set or did they all start at $9

Yes if you bid $49 and no else joins you get the name. Reg fee is included.
Tip: wait until the last minute to place a bid, especially if there are no bids yet. Bids will draw attention :hehe:

Normally it will drop is it is a domain that was grabbed upon expiry and is in 'tasting' phase. Names can be tasted for up to 5 days and the auctions last 3 days which leaves enough time.
I say normally because the domains are using snapnames DNS so they should be able to tell which domains get significant traffic. If no-one bids but the domain has traffic maybe they will want to keep it :guilty:

if you are in auction mode, my guess is there is someone else in it with you otherwise snapname usually just gives it to you. . . did you bid before or after the drop?

Sounds like a Public Auction name at Snapnames. They usually range anywhere from $9-$99 and are open to everyone. They're names Snapnames pickd up with their 'registrars' shortly after they drop and kite. If no one bids, they just re-release them.

If you don't care to much for the name and you have a GoDaddy (or affiliate, like ShareArea.com..shameless plug) backorder hanging around, you can put in a backorder for it there. If no one bids at Snapnames, it will get re-released. Although the GD backorders aren't solid (and you'll be going against other tasters), they will sometime grab these names upon redrop. I've snagged a few this way myself.

And if you decide to bid at Snapnames, wait until about 5 minutes before the auction ends. If you bid early, you will flag the domain for others to see. No reason to help attract more bidders out if you really want a name.

Good luck!
