Snakes suck!!

Hey there,

What a sunday, I almost got a heart attack this morning....

I had to take care of the usual routine this morning at 7 am(a damn time when you had a couple beers the night before), getting "earlicked" from Rex and Sophia to wake up,preparing the food, waiting for them to be finished eating(i had a cigarette) and letting them out to go play and do there "business"

Usually they bark here and bark there but this morning something was clearly different, Sophia just didn't stop...what made me curious...so i went out to the backyard (through our new sliding door what leads to the deck)

They came up on the deck right away, both having a tennis ball in their mouth because they wanted to play....

I went down the stairs of the deck and passed by something on the ground, first i didn't pay attention(hey, it was 7.20am in the morning after a couple beers, remember?) :)

But a couple seconds after passing by i went into shock...i saw this:
1
2
3

I paniced right away, but after a second i realized it was dead...puhhh, my blood pressure was way up that moment!.....

I put something over it so that my dogs couldn't get to it.....just to see Sophia trying to get it again.....she trying to push the thing on top of the dead snake away......

After taking the dead snake away, investigating it, i assume either Sunny the cat (a Manx) killed the snake in the backyard or Sophia did it, the smushed neck of the dead snake is just looking like a big bite not a cat, small bite (look at the picture)... but luckily neither of them got bit(Cinderella, one of my former dogs was bitten by a Copperhead 2 years ago, playing in the yard...she had to go to the hospital an it cost me $2500 ) :(

Anyway, i got rid of a lot of possible snake hangouts in my yard today, like high grass...and i covered the outside of the backyard fence with a ton of moth balls, a "secret weapon", we will see how it turns out...i hope no other snake will come into my backyard....or i have to call Samuel Jackson!!! :)

Just wanted to share this with you.....

Cheers,

Frank

That is enough to make some one wet their britches, that early in the morning.

I used to kill at least 10 Copperheads a year on my land, Now i live in the city, so no more surprises by snakes.

We have copperheads in some areas of the woods around here. You have to be careful. Its def. not good if they get onto your property and bite the animals.

I luckily havn't seen a copperhead in quite a few years.

I used to live in a house that had black widows. We eventually killed them all off, but we saw a few for a while there.. Those are equally as deadly. Venomous creatures are scary.

I would freak if I found a snake in my garden. I found a dead rat once that was bad enough

2 of my wife's uncle died from snake bites, so either you kill them first or you're dead.

They were probably playing with them.. and got bit on the arm, am I right? As apposed to just walking along and randomly getting bit. I am always curious.. seems like most people get bit are guys becuase they like to play with or intimidate the snakes.

they're out in the fields I don't know the details, I'm not there and it's in the province no medical doctor within the area.

Yeah I had a dog that got big on the snout by a snake. We didn't ever know which type of snake it was but figured it was a copperhead. Where we live that is the most common poisonous snake around. I can't help but rememeber how pitiful she looked (and slightly funny also) with half of her snout swollen, kind of a shoot me now look. Needless to say after some antivenom ($$$) she was better.

Weblord sorry to hear about your uncles. I imagine you guys have some pretty nasty snakes around the Philippines.

Alot of venomous snakes will dry bite and not inject poison unless they absolutely feel they must.. but I still wouldn't take a chance!

Used to catch snakes as a kid.. these days I'd be a bit more careful!
