hi

I have a shared hosting plan ( with many addon domains which have subdomains also) and now i want to transfer all those sites to my new reseller account ( every old addon domain will have its own cPanel ) .. but i don]t know what are the steps..

1. so, if in my old public_html are all the folders for every addon domain, all folders for the subdomains and also the folders of the main account.. i dont think a Full backup from cPanel will help me, but instead i should do a copy of public_html with throgh ftp connection... am i wrong? .. i think that i have to create manually the subdomains from cPanel..

2. i don't want to have downtimes of my sites.. so how to put the nameservers? ns1&ns2 -the new ones and ns3&ns4 the old ones??

3. i use joomla on my sites... so, how will i handle the databases?

thanks! hope someone will help me with the right steps to follow ASAP

A full backup would be sufficient. You should do a backup of your databases also. I'm not a mySQL programmer but some things in the mySQL might need to be changed once transferred. You'll have to ask your new host to restore the full backup however.

Add the new nameservers using your domain control panel - under DNS options.

Just backup the databases as said above.

Backing up is an essential thing before doing anything with your database. I think your new host must do it for you.

So you are planning to change the addon domains to normal ones. right? Cpanel doesn't have a utility to do this. Probably you or your host will have to do this manually. If you take a cpanel backup from the old server and restore it in the new one, it will just create them as addon domains again.
You will probably have to create teh domains seperately and has to copy over the files and db's manually.

my current hosting company is down every other day, so I am also thinking to transfer.
But I have quite a few hundred to transfer. Let us know how it goes with yours.

If it is a Cpanel to Cpanel transfer it is just easy which can be completed with a few clicks for your host. They will be able to do it efficiently for you.

No need to worry about this if, cpanel transfer is attempted.
