(Both are Cpanel)

Is it possible to t/f everything and get the same setup from old to new webhost with minimal work? If so, how?
Or do I have to do it manually again?

1/ What exactly does "backups" (cpanel home) back up?

2/ Are there simple steps which can copy all the folders/files/add on domains/redirect/mail forwarding/settings etc from old to new?

3/ if there are many "add on" of sub-domains on the old webhost, does this "add on" procedure need to be done again for new one?

Generally its possible. The best way is to request a transfer from new hosting provider, usually its free without any downtime's.

However you can go by yourself partially, here are the steps:

1. The first step is to login to your cPanel at your old host and then click on the 'backups' icon you see in cPanel.

2. Click on "Download or Generate a Full Backup".

3. This is the backup process, there are 3 steps to it as follows:

A: Make sure that the backup Destination is set to "Home Directory".
B: Put in your email address if it is not already there, this is to alert you when the backup is complete. (However not necessary)
C: Click on 'Generate Backup'. You may leave all the other fields blank.

4. Click on the 'Go Back' link that appears on the page.

5. On this page, the backup link that you see may be unworking, this means that the backup is in progress. Depending on how large the size of the cPanel account is, it may take out for a while. You can refresh the page periodically to see if the backup is ready.

6. Email to your new hosting provider and provide them with your existing account access (IP, login and password) once backup is ready, they should handle the rest for you.

7. When you'll get a notification that your web-site has been moved successfully please change nameservers for your domain.

That's all.

Thanks bro, rep added

Prospective new webhost is asking for login details and $25 to probably do what you described above...

Many hosts will transfer it for free, I certainly wouldn't pay $25 unless this is an enormous website.

ok so now at the new host I am in 'Restore a Home Directory Backup' and have just uploaded the backup tar.gz file
correct so far?

at the old host, for the 'Download a MySQL Database Backup' and 'Download Email Domain Forwarder or Filter Backup' is there a easy bulk backup or do you have to backup 1 by 1 for each mysql/email ?!?

If new provider support cpanel and provide somekind of migration service, it's possible.

They can transfer account to new one...

You need to ask to your new provider..

You will now need to restore the mysql databases if you have any using the Restore a MySQL Database option.

Most people make it sound easy, when sometimes it can be a pain in the a***. I had to work that out the 'hard way'. Whatever you do, don't do it yourself. Get somebody with the 'know how' .i.e your web host.

Thats right. If you are not sure what you are doing, it is best to get help from the experts.
I think even if you contact some management companies, they won't bill you this much for moving from a Cpanel to Cpanel.
