If you host more then one site, one of your sites may be in the root directory of your hosting account and one might be in a folder, example heavylite.com is redirecting to heavylite.heavy.com, while heavy.com is a different site then heavylite.com

Heres my question

If you have domain1.com and domain2.com and domain1 is hosted. If domain2.com redirects to www.domain1.com/domain2/ and has url masking, will the search engines count them as 2 different sites?

Is that what everyone who hosts more then one site does?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
if you dont want to do it like that add domain as an account under WHM, redirect is different from cpanel addon domain, the latter is recognized as a separate domain.

the search engine will know you had used url masking , so it sees 2 url , but only one site ...

no they will be counted as the same site.

you would be better off doing domain2.domain1.com

google treats subs as 'almost' separate sites.

Could you tell me exactly what you mean when you say almost? (anyone else can fill this in too)

No. If you added as addon, then it would domain2.com when typed in the url.

You might try on the command prompt: ipconfig /flushdns

try also deleting the .htaccess on domain1.com if its not working.

maybe that helps.

search engine will count it as the same site.

Try out this domain2.domain1.com

Google would consider the sun folders as one.

Thanks
