If you have the choice which is better to register, the singular or the plural e.g. computer.com or computers.com ?

There is no one answer. It depends completely on the name. Check both in Google to see which has the higher number of listings, and by how much. Overture is no help, they combine S & PL in their results, but there is another paid service that would tell you which gets the most searches.

In the end do the sound test - say the names aloud and see which (or both) sound good - or buy them both, especially if you are developing.

Keyworddiscovery.com provides results for singular and plural. Itยดs a somewhat limited for the free service but it works. Can show very different results than Overturekeyword.com . Check both.

Most of the time plurals are better but not always.

This one i would say Computers.com would be better
But google says otherwise, there Computer is 30% more prevalent than Computers.

The way i decide generally is whenever there is a tangible commodity / product to be sold, it is better off plural. Like Printers/Cars/Homes etc.
And as accentnepal said, say it loud and hear what sounds better.

I would choose plurals always......... for any word............

Depends on the word actually.

Car or Cars?
Game or Games?
Loan or Loans?

Which one do you think people will think of first?

If you intend on developing it, get both!

Some times companies shorten the domain to avoid the confusion of singular and plural.

SeDo.com (Sell Domain / Sell Domains)
NetSol.com (Network Solution / Network Solutions)

Thanks for all the advice guys/gals - I'll take closer look but it sounds as if purals get more votes

Let me retract a bit of what I said -
The plural of a word often (not always) INCLUDES the singular. So I am not sure if Google would not count every instance of the singular in the plural count.

But for SEO if the plural includes the singular it is a point in it's favor.
