The nl registry organization SIDN is going to hide privacy sensitive information in it's whois search results per 12 january 2010. The name and contact information will stay visible.

SIDN - SIDN implements conclusions of 2008 Domain Name Debate

Seems like a good idea to me. I never really liked the idea that my home address is visible for everyone. Maybe other registries will follow?

Good. I got only 1 .nl domain but the openly publishing of contact details including address were a bit of a bother to me (although not enough to stop me from registering the domain -- not for reselling purposes but because I developed a site in Dutch language and then .nl is just the best pick)

I wonder though why they cannot just give an option to hide the WHOIS info totally, like individuals registering UK domains can choose to opt out of the WHOIS?
