AMY WINEHOUSE DEAD DOT COM

She only died a couple of hours ago and I was waiting to see if anyone bought it, and it took about 30 mins after the anouncement for this to be regged.

It is disgusting, especially from someone who appears to be in the business.

It's very disturbing that people would wish to exploit misery and tragedy for personal financial gain.

I really know very little about the late chanteuse, other than she had talent, and a serious addiction to drugs and alcohol, and with many demons that she's been fighting over the years.

May she rest in peace. I imagine her music will prevail.

Always sad to see anyone die, especially young, whether a celebrity, a homeless person, anyone, from anywhere.

But before we judge this person that regged the name, perhaps he/she is a fan and wishes to create a memorial. Who knows?

What times we live in. I'm still in shock regarding the tragedy in Norway, more killings in Mexico, and throughout the world.

May she finally RIP

I was about to open this thread. Just like Michael Jackson's death 2 years ago, today shameful people register Amy Winehouse domains with the abhorrent goal of profiting off her death. Sadly, almost all combinations are taken and many of them have already a landing page with Adsense banners (one is amy winehouse died [dot] com ).

Amy, RIP.

What I think is sick and twisted is that you put up his email address
and phone number.

Shame on the ambulance-chaser opportunists - it's a disgrace to the industry.

RIP, Amy.

I don't think so, such shameful behaviours should be reported to the authorities.

You think it is shameful for me to publish the public whois information that is accessible to everyone and who uses a term for his domain which will generate high traffic to a phishing site which even google acknowledge? You clearly have little respect for the domaining community.

According to Domaintools, this domain you guys are mad about has been regged since 3 years ago.... which is not really surprising. Almost all 'still living' celebrities have their own "isdead.com" domain sitting in some domainer's portfolio.

Even barackobamaisdead dot com, is already taken.

Commercialism and morality, don't often mix. We live in a Shock Media culture nowadays, ever since they invented Reality TV, YouTube, and Lady GaGa. If it's not shocking, it's not going to sell.

Hello, phone hacking anyone ????

the world has approx 1 in every 100 who are designated as psychopaths, so this is not surprising. normal people that have empathy do not consider such actions. hence what the world is going through today is brought on by such people who prey on the normal folks who cannot fathom this type of reaction to human tragedy

Looks like the domain has changed hands already. The whois now shows someone in Romania.

Somehow, i think people who reg these kind of domains are only doing it to annoy other domainers as a prank for 10 dollars.

Only domainers can discover these kind of domains on the internet. If you're just a regular web surfer, the chances are probably nil that you will be able to stumple upon these kind of domains anyway because they don't show up on Search results. And give or take 1-2 weeks to crawl it, the news would already be stale by the time and the keywords will be dominated by the legit news websites that people will no longer go 3 pages down on Google.

Why anyone would type "amywinehousedead.com" on the http address field of a browser, is crazy.

True, but these perform a service to the community, which is completely different to this business.

Why don't people get more pissed off with domainers that register Mesothelioma, Cancer, Bipolar, Depression, Abortion, Divorce, Health Insurance and Suicide type names with bullshit mini-sites filled with misinformation.

No one seems to have an issue with those - in fact most people HUNT for Cancer/Mold domains for the high CPC.

This forum is so full of self-righteousness its ridiculous.

Don't register some-skanky-drug-addict-who-threw-her-life-away-is-dead.com but everyone is interested in profiting from a domain that pays well because a large number of people that die or suffer from having breathed in asbestos working for industries and corporations that didn't care...

People kill themselves everyday due to mental health and debt.. yet it's ok to register ManageYourForeclosure.com with articles written by uneducated individuals spinning some bull crap wikipedia entry with links to "MakeMillionsWithTaxLienProperties.com" and ads for "WorkAtHomeMakeThousands.com" type scams.

Get over it already.

Perhaps if the internet was not filled with depression and drug resources put their by domainers she could have FOUND help, who knows?

Who said that's OK? It's certainly not* - maybe that's a topic for another thread?

Yes, lots of people with addiction issues die - some are just more public than others. Whatever you thought of her, sensationalizing /capitalizing on her demise this way is disrespectful and cruel to her family. In the same category as that group that pickets funerals.

*(Personally, I don't do sites on subjects where I don't know what the **** I'm talking about. And, I liberally cite and link out to authority sites, but that's me ... )

A lot of people DO have issues with that.

That's why they added hundreds more TLDs, remember? ... to give a chance for the legits to reg the nice, short domains.

Whaaaaatt???? Taken again by domainers??? %$%&@&!

I am more inclined to believe, this is the first time some people here ever saw an "isdead.com" domain getting regged.

For people who scan the thousands of domains dropping every day, you will get NUMB with all the craziness in this world.

I can't even fathom how and why people even regged the domains i see dropping each single day. Nothing shocks me anymore.

So i suggest you guys start scanning drop lists everyday, as a hobby.

I think the 'assumption' that people are actually profiting from these names, is probably highly exaggerated.

agree.
so can we conclude that they are not only without scruple, but they are also stupid and can't even make money with their unscrupulousness?

A much better conclusion, is to simply ignore it. If they are stupid or not making money, doesn't really mean anything. Because these domains are not visible to mankind.

They are only visible to domainers who are sifting through megatons of domain garbage (try to picture pit miners sifting through mountains of dirt, looking for a speck of diamond-- you don't need to react to the dirt, right?).

The best time to react is when they become popular and are actually making money.
