I decided to use Google's search engine platform to create my first version of Shuzam!(a customized search engine PLUS web search). Using their platform will let users search the overall web, as well as, sites that I emphasize. I also own the .mobi extension so it could eventually cross over into the "mobile search" arena.
I think owning both the .com and the .mobi is the best possible way to tap into both the PC-based and mobile-based forms of search. Since PC-based search is still the mainstay of "search" it will continue to supply a steady revenue, while "mobile search" represents the future of search.
I would appreciate any thoughts by NP members and suggestions...My current job limits how much time I can put into it, but I will try to update the site soon. I view the homepage of the big players as just a "branded" customer interface that consumers identify with, nothing more!
*FYI---I've already had some initial inquiries about the name and the site.
