Don't think it was a registry premium.

Yes, hate this about .co. All good domains are registry premiums and heavily priced.

And every decent domains with 400+ related domains that drops are registry premium even if they are so useless I wouldn't even reg a .com version

I can't remember if it was a registry premium. I assume in registry premium you have to make an offer, but I bought it at buy now price. When I last checked 203 extensions were already taken for the word.

Warning to any newbies investing in . TV - yes with a large enough portfolio there are occasional sales but those $30 renewals get expensive very quickly and can feel like running on a treadmill - a lot of effort but you go nowhere. At one point around 2012 I held close to 500 .TV domains which is now down about 70% - the ones which make the most sense for video content. Before the newer extensions were launched .TV was a good alternative but now it is merely one of hundreds of alternatives in the minds of developers and end users who generally prefer to spend six figures on marketing and development rather than $xxx on a solid domain. Interestingly one of my best .TV sales (made in 2010) was dropped earlier this year and while the temptation is there to reg it thus far I have resisted. Why would I not pick up a one-word domain which could potentially sell for $5k or more? Because many years in .TV tells me the odds are it will just be $30 in extra renewals with a very unlikely payoff.

Ok I have made three .TV sales since the pandemic began so maybe corona is turning the tide. I see no reason to publish three $xxxx .TV sales because they do not offset years of renewals of my .TV portfolio and two of them appear to be mere brand protection acquisitions (one redirect to the .COM and the other acquired by a website operating on a CCTLD which perhaps plans to use it at a later date or keep it out of the hands of a potential competing website). The other is being used by an end user.
