I'm not quite sure if I'm following the rules correctly, but I wanted to start interacting in the community to learn more about domaining.

I just picked up recently a good amount of dot COM domains that are all in the bitcoin niche. I felt like it was a pretty huge niche and would have a showcase thread, but I searched and didn't see one.

If I understand correctly, you can only post your domains if it's in the specific niche showcase, so I took the initiative to begin one. If this is against the rules I apologize!

But post your bitcoin domains here! Mine will be following in the next post :tu:

Great name Jeeps, this is the hen that will lay the golden egg for you. :)
Target some bitcoin startup, don't offer to sell below $10k.

Thanks for that =P. Definitely excited about it...

The fact that there are established brands / sites in the space already operating on & invested in .io extension I feel offers that bit of familiarity & value, which in my mind makes it more desirable than other extensions; i.e. lends itself to introduction as part of a vertical, consistent-ish branding (regarding extension), easier market introduction & adoption, etc.

So that that extent, I think it's arguably among the most valuable extensions for this keyword combo [aside from the dotcom, of course, which we all know sold for 250k]. Thoughts, folks?

A 10k floor valuation would put it at 4% of the dotcom. Again, thoughts? I was looking how others have priced theirs on Sedo...
  • .co -> $5k BIN (5 bids)
  • .so -> 10k GBP [$16,775.50] (0 bids)
  • .xyz -> $5490 (0 bids)
  • .email -> $349 [$585.46] GBP (0 bids)
  • .domains -> $349 GBP (0 bids) - of course these last two are kinda 'meh' imho
And these are registered and not listed for sale at Sedo....net; .org ; .eu; .info; .us; .me; .co.uk; .in - first two being part of the currency evolution portfolio, along with .co & .la.

Nice name @Jeeps

I personally think a 10K floor is way too much for an IO name. Are there any big sales in .io over the last year or so? I'm not very familiar with the extension.

If you get high XXX for it, surely that would be a fantastic sale...

dot IO is the best extension for a startup in this space.
dot CO is most useful for corporate branding.
forget about other extensions in bitcoinwallet.

Look at past .IO sales, your price for this name should be at a minimum $10k, without being greedy. Most top single keyword dot IO sales were around this price. Though it's not a single keyword but it's a most promising name for the world's future currency.

Best of luck, don't be in a hurry to offload it.

Did you handreg it btw?

Can you share some past IO sales of that caliber ? I'm just interested. The only ones seem to be 1 worders like you said.

Was also wondering why .IO is the best extension for a startup in that space?

Thanks.

Many webdev/tech startups are using .IO domains nowadays. Check this for some companies:

Yeah, there are a variety, specifically in the digital currency space - ghash.io, bex.io, cex.io, onename.io, etc. I've seen it mentioned that it can also stand for input/output as well.

Other than that, I personally think it's an aesthetically pleasing extension... B-)

These are the .IO sales reported in 2014 and these are good 1 word names or very short names, expecting more than any of these for a 2 word name is very unlikely, especially with a technology that is just staring and it "could" die a slow death like a lot of them do after a couple of years in the headlines...you could get lucky though

Files.io
$2000

Gasket.io
$2976

Blue.io
$4000

X.io
$30,000

R.io
$29,650

Es.io
$30,000

Groups.io
$10,000

Bear in mind that "Bitcoin Wallet" was trademarked in Feb this year as well so I dont think any reputable company or startup will touch it, you have to expect when someone pay $250K for a domain, they are going to try and protect it

http://tmsearch.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4804:4alx8l.2.1

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but just my opinion folks

That's what I thought, I haven't seen any recent sales in .io that are more than 1 word.

Also bitcoin wallet is just 1 crypto currency. Wouldn't something like coinwallet or mobilewallet be more appealing to most?
