If you have a domain portofio website/marketplace, do you think it's a good idea to price a domain and then put both a buy now and make offer button?

Would it be best to just use a buy now button if a name is priced and a make offer button if it's not priced?

Thanks..

Good point - maybe the buy-it-now button should be called "immediate reservation and priority purchase" - maybe that wording should be rearranged, IRAPP doesn't sound right.

The two are mutually exclusive!

BIN priced domains get more action. This said, it's a good idea to leave a door open to further communication. This is best done by adding a "Send Message" field.

Sedo has 3 options:

1. You can select "Make and Offer".
2. You can Select "Buy it now".
3. You can select "Make an Offer" with a BIN amount (example $500).

I prefer the last option. What will happen is the user will see this on the landing page:

"The seller want $500 for this domain, please make an offer (minimum $90).

Then the user know what you want , and can offer you what you want or can offer you a lower amount.

How about a BIN button allow with a ENQUIRE button which they can send a message (or offer)?

I like the option too, but what you think about the following point against it?

"Sometimes when you leave room for negotiation it suggest that you think you are overpricing"
"So people will take advantage"?

Nice suggestion... So switch the make offer button to inquire... Hmm

Hi @rivey001, I personally disagree with that statement.

All my research and experience says that you will make more sales with BIN than any other method.

But setting a BIN also means you could leave money on the table too.

It is a tough call.

Keep your best domains as "Make Offer" and the lesser ones as BIN.

I personally like to use both make an offer and buy it now depending on what a name might be worth. IF i'm not really sure of the price of the domain then I would just put a make an offer button with a low amount to get the negotiation started.

@Raymond C

Just checked out your site and thought I would give you a heads up about the wording on your contact page.

You wrote "We do not response to lowball offers."

Proper English should read - We do not respond to lowball offers.

Just trying to help. :)

I hope this helps.
Thanks Cdomains. My English is normally not so good :) I fixed it.

People definitely like to bargain when it comes to domains - because everyone knows more often than not prices quoted/listed are somewhat unrealistic. Domains is not a commodity that has MSRP. No two domains out of hundreds of millions registered are same. How do you value one higher than other - that is 'very' subjective.

You can keep the minimum of some amount like we did $500 for our site http://www.Lysted.com. We believe $500 is an amount any serious buyer should be willing to spend. Any offer more than $500 shows seriousness of buyer. Even with a domain listed at $2500, $500 is the opening point - and that is what both buyer and seller need. We have kept 2 buttons, 'Buy' and 'Inquire'. Through 'Inquire' prospective buyers can communicate to the seller and there is an optional offer amount.

It is the overall experience we have to look at. Have some wiggle room in the listing price, allow customer to feel good and have the 'satisfaction' of buying. It is the (shopping) experience that every buyer likes to have when they are spending money.
