Should I renew these?

I posted this elsewhere but now I'm thinking... I have cutie.vc and QT.vc to renew. I have the feeling that cutie.vc might not do well (there are a lot of dictionary domains regged in ccTLD and most suck) so I'll probably let it go. But QT.vc is a LL and according to namebio, LL.vc still sell well. I plan to renew QT.vc (cutie!) but should I renew cutie.vc? Do you think it'd be worth me paying $100 to renew?

(Yeah, not ALL LL's are worth a lot but according to namebio, they've been selling well. TN.vc sold for $460. BR.vc got $2,000. But there aren't a lot of sales for .vc.)

Question is, what other investment could you make with the money? Problem with VC is that you could instead have several domains in other extensions. Two letter domains are great for the ego, I am too attached to mine. They do increase in value, maybe not as well as other stuff. Still a few LL.VC are available, once they are gone things might speed up a bit.

Dotster has .VC for $30 / year - you might even knock a bit more off with a coupon code.

Thanks for your opinion. I read what you said about Dotster and I'm unsure if I should be mad, pissed or wrathful. My domains are with namesbeyond.com and they charge a whopping $100 to renew each. I plan to renew the LL since I believe I'll get my money back and then some. But I don't quite see cutie.vc selling for much. But... do you think it might sell for more than $100? I wouldn't renew at $100 if the domain couldn't sell for, say, more than $150.

I don't think cutie.vc would sell for more than $100 unless you're very lucky and you find someone who really wants the domain. I would definately drop it if it were me.

QT.vc looks good if you're offering short url services like no_url_shorteners see if that site is interested on it, if not, then drop it.

i'm having a hard time imagining what target market, specifically, you would target for QT.VC

it is an LL, but not the way that the .com version of the domain would be an LL. because it's very standard to put .com after most domains, but for QT you also have to remember the extension, so it's hard to compare it to LL.com's

if you can't envision, specifically, what target market to go after, and why they would want your domain, i think you should drop it. but if you can, i think you should keep it. i hope this helps :)

If someone were to buy qt.vc, they'll want cutie.vc, so it wouldn't fail the radio test... I'd buy it if I were you...

Try this test. Ask someone you know verbally to write it out and see what spelling they come up with.

Keep them together as a package not separate.

.vc is commonly referred to as 'virtual community' so there's hope into that.

I've never heard of that one before but have heard .vc reffered to as "Venture Capital" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.vc

Personally, I only have one (NewYork.vc) that I should really go & approach some Venture Capital firms in NY to see if they would purchase it.

In regards to your LL.vc, I would say that if it was me, I probably wouldn't renew unless I was planning on getting it developed. Although you could say "QT" just sounds like "Cutie", the "Q" is a non-premium letter so probably might not get as much as the other LL.vc sales. If you end up renewing, make sure you develop it full of cute girls & let us know once it's done ;)

QT is a rather common acronym for cutie. I have QTST.com (Cutest) - although really I bought it for the letter value at a time when all the triples were drying up.

Anyway, I do not think the Q hurts it in this case. QT also means quiet.

VC also means video conference. The venture capital thing gets the most pub, but I wonder how many such firms would want a website. I see my LLs as a buy and hold for the day when lesser-known TLDs are common, and a super-short domain is a status symbol (think tiny mobile keyboards). Remember, a LL.vc is a letter shorter than a LL.com!

But if you decide to keep it, transfer that guy over to Dotster.

One more note. Most registrars, including Moniker and Godaddy, cannot handle two letter domains. Once ICANN releases one and two letter .coms, etc in a year or three that should be fixed, but for now the choices are limited for LL lovers.

...Maybe the release of LL.coms will bring attention to the LL.cc market???
