Hi,

I have found an available domain. .com of course

It doesn't get many exact searches only 21, however....

it is a 'high competition' search term and when I google the exact term there are loads of sponsored ads etc...

Is this the kind of domain I should be registering?

Their are plenty of advertisers etc so therefore plenty of end users.

any help would be great :)

Ooo boy, this is a tough one without knowing the domain. I understand if you don't want to post it here though so I'll give you the best advice I can. High competition is good for advertising but you may have to put more work in your SEO. You will have a lot more competitors so be prepared to not get traffic as quickly as you'd like. I would really aim for high exact searches though since adsense (or your preferred advertiser) isn't going to pay you if you don't have traffic. If you are prepared to do heavy SEO work, go for it. It will pay off in the long run. Also, make sure you have high quality content on your site since that will help immensely.

Oh, quick edit here. I'm assuming you are developing the domain since you are talking about advertising. If this is not the case, then let me know so I can update my answer a bit.

hi Techgal
thank you for your response.
maybe i didnt explain it to well :(

i wasnt looking at developing it i was looking to register and then try and sell to one of the many companies that are advertising on google for the exact search term.

i was wondering whether high competition search terms are a good way to go? i know in a perfect world id want high search and high competition words.
i am assuming high competition search terms are more sought after?

any help would be great.

thanks

Ah, got it. Well, your keyword choices depend on the end user you are selling it to. If you are selling the domain to someone who owns a forum, high competition is best since they likely earn their revenue from advertisements. If you are selling to a company who sells products such as Amazon.com, then low competition is better since SEO is more important than advertising revenue. Honestly, keyword competition is not nearly as important as the quality and length of the domain name. That's probably what you should base your purchases and reselling on. If you really want to focus on keyword competition, high competition keywords are generally the most valuable.

If it's generic and not too "Long Tail" then I probably would register it. Use a code from the Godaddy codes section, so it will only cost a few dollars.

Typically it would need to be somewhat direct which it appears to be with all of the ads.

Hope this helps

Good luck and God Bless,
Marcia
