Simple

Namejets.com is forwarded to Namejet.com
Namepro.com is forwarded to Namepros.com
Sedos.com is forwarded to Sedo.com

even

Ebays.com is forwarded to Ebay.com
Facebooks.com is forwarded to Facebook.com

in my opinion

Efty.com should get Eftys.com

smart move

what are our thoughts?

some people need to be convinced 😜 or
why does Namepros own Namepro.com ?

Please let us know what customer do you had in mind when you registered Eftys.com. Other that Efty.com, of course ...

@Michael Ehrhardt

I understand that everyone needs to hustle, but this is in bad faith. Unfortunately, it reflects poorly on your choices and it's the type of strategy that gives our industry a bad reputation.

It's a small world, and even smaller in domaining. The Efty platform is built by a member of this community, for us. My advice would be to think longer term about how you can build bridges instead of making a quick buck. Your name and reputation are worth more than $3k.

Guys
do you really think that your domain names are so much different than mine?
its only because you know Efty
everyone of you got names similar than mine but maybe from other industries

Even Efty know that i own this domain for a long time
they just forgot to register it

if this domain would be free and i would tell them they would register it
for sure

People wake up

Domains are a legal good

Terrible judgment to buy and attempt to profit from this name, especially from someone like Doron who has done a lot of good for the industry.

Should websites own the plural version of their name? It doesn't hurt.

Is it a big deal? No, particularly in this example.

Should you register plurals of existing brands in an attempt to profit from the brand? Absolutely not. That is a textbook example of a bad faith registration.

Do your reputation a favour and give the name to Efty, or at least offer it at whatever cost you paid to acquire it (reg fee, I'm guessing).

It is not business. It is cybersquatting. And it is not from domainer to end-user, it is from domainer to another domainer.

You joined here in 2015, I did it in 2017, as a newbie. I was supposed to learn something from you. But I don't wanna learn this kind of BS you promote. Yea ... I know German Olympics whatever screwed you, but this don't give you the right to try to screw others.

I'm with those who say that it is improper for the reasons others have mentioned. This is not like taking a generic word and seeing value in the plural. It is a very specific branded word. I also agree that the plural for a firm used by domainers adds very little value, so even if there was not an ethical issue, the plural in this case has little value imho.

My advice would be to do one of the following:
  • Apologize and offer it to them free.
  • Let it simply drop.
  • Generate a legitimate name for the acronym yourself that in no way takes advantage of work done by others - e.g. Everyone Favours Terrific Yellow Snacks and try to get a snack company that specialize in yellow themed treats to rebrand to it and have a marketing campaign.

If you really think efty would benefit from this, forward this to efty.com without any cost.

It is known as cybersquatting. I knew many domainers love doing this because they think they can sell their domains for easy money in this way. We all think it's not ethics because people talking about it over and over.

However, we have to accept that many business are unethical. Think about it, when the registrars putting expired domains on auction and depreciated the right of original resisterants to renew their domain in grace period are in fact more unethics than what OP doing. The expired domain auction participants are indeed encourage the unethical business go on. But you know who care about it as long as they are making big $$$$.

Anyway, I agreed with most of you that OP should not opened a thread like this and try to sell his domain in this way. It's not a smart move at all.

Hopefully @Doron Vermaat will chime in.

Reg fee sure, anything else no.

I responded to Michael already in May this year.

Ultra premium domain for sure. Unfortunately we couldn't afford it so we had to settle for Efty.com instead.

Something not many people know is that since Efty has contracted Michael to lead our guerrilla marketing efforts and he's been doing a terrific job

Possibly the funniest post I've read on NP this year.

I'll give you $100 USD via paypal if you donate it to Efty

That would literally be feeding the trolls. We have no need for the domain. I would only accept it if that money would go to a charity instead.
