This brings up some VERY SERIOUS points ... and I just pray this is not the case (and I give credit to the poster as its surely been on some people's minds over the past several days), IMHO.

"There was an astonishing $54,222,500 amount bid on domains that did sell because the reserve price was too high." This is ASTONISHING ... and it's important to remember (as I've posted here in the .MOBI Forum™) that "bids" should never be used in place of actual completed, verifiable sales insofar as comp's for domain pricings, in my view! :gl:

I look forward to follow up to the poster's comments and data! :talk:

Hmmmm, that does look fishy. I think Moniker may have to stop showing reserve ranges. The reserve price range should be completely hidden anyways. I've never liked how they show them.

i don't think it is so bad in this case.

everyone is in the room i suppose and everyone can see other bid. Typical shill is when ur bidding against the seller or an agent of the seller. At least you know the other bids are legitimate. Sedo is full of shill bids. Just means don't take bid seriously, look at actual sales.

None of this post makes sense. In this room there was a large column in the middle of the room. One person couldn't see all the potential bidders. A shill bidder doesn't have to be the seller or agent of the seller. A shill bidder is a fake bidder that affects the thought process of real bidders. Anyone collecting a commission from sales stands to gain from shill bidding. Shill bidding is bad news. I hope this didn't happen.

It was very bold of him to post something like that.
I missed this auction so I can't comment one way or another as to this auction, but I would like to see a higher degree of transparency and common sense used in the auctioning of domain names across the board.
