Hi,

I'm looking to start up an affiliate program for one of my sites in the future.
I was hoping someone who has done this before the best company to do this with and what actually needs to be done.
Also what is the sort of cost involved with setting up a program?

Thanks anyone for any advice.

Hmm depending on products you can choose affiliate networks.

EX: For software and all there is regnow and for clothing or goods etc there is CJ and shareasale For leads etc I think neverblueads is good one.

If you are thinking about your own affiliate program then you might want to have a script that can check cookies and the script that can deliver banners/links which upon clicking can set cookies. There is also part where the financial data is accumulated and payments for affiliates are processed. Affiliates own control panel etc as usual is also needed.

Is adsense considered an affiliate program, or no?

Thanks for the reply Nick.
I'd be looking to set up the program for myself - so i would be looking for affiliates to sell/advertise my products.

If you need a shopping cart solution then you may be able to save yourself some money by finding an all in one solution from your shopping cart provider. I use 1shoppingcart to manage our affiliate program at DomainSuperstar.com

if you're looking to setup an affiliate program, you have to look at your budget. If you're looking at outsourcing it all, then you have the top 3 IMO, CJ.com, Pepperjam.com & shareasale. CJ being the most expensive, shareasale beign the least. They make their money from an upfront free, along with percentage of your commission payment.

On the flip side, you can manage your affiliate program inhouse. You can buy a script (which I'm not too keen on), or you can use somethign like e-junkie's affiliate program. It doesnt have the indepth stats that pepperjam/cj have, but it allows you to gather your affiliates (without charging you the percentage of commission payment)

Outside of which way you do, also important to figure out a way to obtain affiliates.
best of luck
