SEO vs. PR

from what i've been reading recently, it seems that PR plays a much more important role in ranking high in search engines. has this always been true / is it even true?

btw, by seo i'm talking about choosing the right keywords etc.

PR doesn't matter much about how good your site ranks in search engines. Unique content is the main key for better rankings (at least for google).

Both are important, but strong content will tend to lead to PR in the long term. Content is king! Focus on your content strategy first and good things are more likely to develop. You may wish to read Seth Godin's book called "Permission Marketing." It should give you a better idea of the importance of anticipated, personal, and relevant marketing and content or products that deliver on all promises made.

One tip that you should always remember is to change only one thing at a time and measure the results. Constant iterative improvement is the best way to achieve your long term goals and without accurate measurements you will not know what works and what doesn't.
