.mobi Send to Sedo auction to benefit from interested Mobi buyers?

SpaceshipSpaceship
Watch
Do you think it would be dumb or smart to send one of my NNN's to sedo auction around the time of the .mobi event? Think people will have less money as they will be bidding on multiple big dollar domains or so many interested people it will be worth it?

I am thinking of sending 630 mobi to auction for $100.

thoughts? comments?

thanks for your time in advance, Gary.

Think: Supply vs. Demand, IMHO. :guilty:

Either way, it's a cool NNN .MOBI domain name ... and all the best! :talk:

Suppy of premium .mobi is high but expensive. Your 630.mobi will considered a bargain and will fare well.

Go for it. :)

thats what came to me when i read ur question but after reading it completely and realize that youd like to send NNN (only 1,000) i think it can be another option besides the names in the auction to those who wants a decent .mobi... i think u can benefit from this "premium" auction

630.mobi? if i were id go for it, and i wouldnt begin w $100... i wouldnt begin w $1,000 either but higher than $100 i would

good luck :tu:

Thanks all (rep to be added). I don't think its wrong to start it at $100 as the more people that get on the bidding the better. I was also thinking that since no numbers are in this one supply / demand might be a good thing.

I screwed up a bit, i never entered 630 into my sedo account but it was still there from the previous owner (glad I checked) so I have to wait until its accepted/verified into my account (maybe I will call my manager tomorrow to rush verification). Maybe I will send 270...Hhhmmmm

Lets take a vote, which ones would you keep and which one would you send to auction? I will def send 1 to auction tomorrow-

260.mobi Indiana area code!
270.mobi Kentucky area code!
530.mobi Sac area code! and time work usually finishes!
630.mobi -Area code for Western Chicago

Thanks for all your opinions, Gary.

Great minds think alike!

I was about to post a very similar question, except that I was going to offer NP'ers the chance to send to auction the ones they like at the price they like.

A word of warning though: I think Jeff is right and you may not get even the minimum wholesale price with such an imbalance of supply and demand (and yes, I have considered the counter-arguments to that).

There are also other factors to consider, some of which are discussed here:

http://www.namepros.com/dot-mobi/378028-vote-will-any-premium-mtld-100-a.html

Having said that, I'm badly in need of funds so I'll most likely go ahead and do it anyway.

So consider this fair warning that Sedo may well be flooded with low-reserve NNN.mobis as well from tomorrow.

In answer to your original question: whether it's smart or dumb depends on how badly/quickly you need the money:)

There will be one situation at sedo auction. It will be flooded with .mobi which is not premium as many seek to push their .mobi out for sale.

While, many collectors will also seek to obtain an bargain or generics names at sedo auction. It a two edge sword for sure.

I might obtain some bargain at that period, I guess. :)

I think you forgot to "TM" that one...better do it before someone else does. It's such a catchy concept. Next thing you know, economists everywhere will be using it.

This was discussed in a thread yesterday:

http://www.namepros.com/dot-mobi/377902-mixing-w-the-premium-auction.html

But I would like to address the supply/demand thing.

Supply: obviously the 100 .mobi prems

Demand: Are you people saying you think that the number of active .mobi shoppers will remain the same or not increase much this week?

Think about it, how many of you are awaiting the auction with your hand on your wallet? Was your hand on your wallet last week ready to buy one of these premiums? Then, how many of "you" are there? How many "others" are out there - what about those responsible for such purchases for the sake of their corporation?

The bottom line is that we need to consider that the demand for people buying premium .mobis, and .mobis in general, will increase this week.

We simply don't know to what extent and therefore it is impossible to predict any supply/demand imbalance.

Just because we know the supply is increasing, doesn't mean we know to what extent the demand is increasing (you peeps and others watching sedo this week with your hand on your wallet).

Just something to consider.

Yeah, Jeff will also join in the fun with us to obtain any bargain at the sedo auction. We just consider the auction bidding with our hands on the wallet.

Hi Onassis, yes all the best today with the bargains ... remember to keep an eye on those "Reserve Prices", and the very important point, as I've posted here in the past (after the Traffic Shows, specifically - although, at first blush, the Reserves / ranges now seem somewhat more reasonable here) that "bids" should really be meaningless insofar as comp's (comparables) of actual closed sales, IMHO. :gl:
Just my two sense.

Not that much traffic to it and still at 325. I know most traffic and bids occur in the last couple days. We will see.

thanks, gary.

It would reason that more bids (and hopefully bidders) will come toward the very end of the auctions, IMHO. Also, it would be encouraging to see End users in those later biddings, as well (Bank of America for Loans.mobi, for example)! :yell:

We shall see, and Good Luck with your auctions! :talk:
