I have not been keeping up with the domain market, so I'm curious to see what the experts have to say about this one.

Welcome to NamePros.

A fair question given the forum rules. I own a vested percentage in the domain/company.

Anything above the $200,000 just for the domain.

side note: so the listing is U.S.$1 per ad and i saw lots of ads there. it's making you enough money i guess that's including the site.

just curious:
addict = Blum?

I've been following sell.com for quite some time.

is it still part of Scott Blum's incubator: ThinkTank.com?

I think it is a major coup that he once owned/operated both Buy.com & Sell.com
Is sell.com still part of his empire? Is Thinktank.com still current?

If you are Scott (or associated with Thinktank), congrats on YUB.com - love the concept.

re: your original question

Speaking from personal experience: Sell.com as a domain is worth 7 figures. In today's market. Undeveloped. Don't waste time selling the domain to domainers, end users only.

But based on its current developed site/business model, I would not add too much more value to it. The current concept is not exciting or unique in today's crowded marketplace. The site & the concept behind it needs to be overhauled in order to be a real contender. There is so much more I would do with the site than is currently being done. So much more. Would love to get the chance to breathe some life into that venture.

Good luck.

I should clarify that I am only an employee of the company who thereby has a vested interest in the company, but I'm not the controlling owner. I look forward to the continued discussion, mostly to satisfy my own curiosity.

Considering that fund.com just sold for what? $9M sell.com would have to be fairly close if not above that wouldn't you think? You can "sell" anything with it where as fund is a locked niche.

cheers

This could be a $1M + Domain, however, Fund.com was way overpriced to start with.

End user sale makes sense. I believe it would take a high 7 figure offer for the controlling owner to consider a sale.

I'd sell everything I could to scrape 500k together for sell.com ... I'd have all my stuff back inside a year with a large addition to my retirement fund.
