Sedo push to auction: Does timing matter?

I just got an offer for one of my domains on Sedo and decided to send it to auction, but then I held myself back from hitting the "Start Auction" button, thinking, well, if I start the auction this Sunday afternoon EDT, it will end next Sunday, a day of the week when most employees 'round the globe are on vacation.

What days/times of the week do you think Sedo's auction page receives the largest volume of views? Would you recommend I carefully time when I release to auction so I hit one of those peaks?

Advice would be deeply appreciated.

As far as I know the SEDO auctions ends 7 days from when the offer was received, not when you send it to auction.

Yes, Sedo auction start is based upon the time of the offer not the time you respond. So if the offer was placed (via the Sedo listing page) this afternoon the auction would be scheduled to end a week from now ... yes on a Sunday afternoon ... which can be slow sometimes.

both bmugford and acc are right.

At least the auction will end on Sunday afternoon.

I have an auction right now at Sedo and it will end a little after 5am EST. Now, that's bad timing.

Likely that Sunday afternoons (US time zones) will be even slower soon with the start of the NFL (US football) season.

I suppose it also has to do with the audience of buyers ... names with global usage potential will find a portion of their potential bidders asleep when the auction ends. ccTLDs are probably most at risk of ending at off times in relation to their biggest constituencies.

It would be great if Sedo adopted the Pool method of extending auctions 24 hours from the last bid. (At least as it worked for the .asia auctions)

Oh well. I'm almost tempted to write a script that removes all my domains from Sedo each Friday evening and puts 'em back the next Monday morning :)

I won broker.me for $360 on Sedo last week, and I don't think I would have nabbed it for nearly that little if it weren't for the fact that auction ended at exactly 6am EDT on a Sunday morning.

Thanks for the advice. I'll guess I'll just release the name to auction now so I maximize its exposure. The domain is DivineMatch.com, by the way.

it's not bad timing ... buyers do it on purpose

about 2 years ago I was negotiating with a buyer on SEDO about websiteology.com ... after some haggling I was going down from $5000 and he was going up from $900 ... so he sends an offer for $1500 at 6-7 EST Sunday morning ... yeah right ... (I countered again going a little lower , he didn't reply)

Sedo needs to adjust their system, because as a buyer you can really use the end times to your advantage.
