Ok.

Recently i bought few names using domain by proxy, of course it shields your ID from people's eyes including sedo's eyes. Since it is sedo's normal silly practice to verify the ownership of the domain name before it lists on their site, my domains have 2 choices to comply before it gets listed.
1.To park with sedo OR
2.Not to register with domain by proxy.

Of course i can't comply with any of that requirements because i park my names with Fabulous for better PPC payout and i keep my names anonymous to prevent unsolicited mails and due to some other private reasons.

I'm getting more offers by parking with fabulous by indicating "This name is for sale".

So far i've been in this industry for 3 yrs and i never sold nor had an offer from sedo's platform. Afternic been allright but i think fabulous is definitely fabulous. Remember guys, Fabulous is good if your site getting high uniques otherwise no one will notice you ever existed.

So, as a normal practice i request for listing on sedo for all the newly registered names. Then they replied.

Dear

Thank you for using Sedo to sell your domain names!

In order to ensure that domains are only listed for sale by their rightful
owners,
Sedo double-checks the ownership of all newly listed domains. However, at this
time we have been unable to confirm ownership for the following domain(s):

xxxxx.com
xxxxx.com
xxxxx.com
xxxxx.com
xxxxxx.com

To clear this up, all we need is a brief e-mail from the address listed as the
admin contact in the domain's ownership record.

Alternatively, you can simply set the name servers of your domains to be
NS1.SEDOPARKING.COM and NS2.SEDOPARKING.COM. This will let us identify you
as the owner of the domains so that you will not need to email us.

I apologize in advance for the inconvenience that this causes you, but I hope
you'll understand that this check helps ensure a fraud-free and better
functioning marketplace for all Sedo users.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Your Sedo Team

Since this is not the first time i'm getting this, i just ignored their mail and told to myself not to bother if they refuse to list my names. If a buyer wanted to buy my name they would rather type-in the name in their browser just to find out i'm willing to sell, Rather than wading through heavy list of names on sedo just to realise good names that aren't parked with them always listed at the end of their searched page.

Not being an arrogant trader i politely mailed their customer service to ask abt if there is any other option availble. Of course their worst customer service in this industry had put my mails in their "Oblivious Folder". I had the same experience on sedo's featured listing that ended in refund.

Ok. long story short.

Today i received this email, saying my domains have been listed.
hahahahh. What ??? how come ??? heloooooo, do I miss something here ?

Subject: Ownership Confirmed: xxxx.com,xxxxx.com,xxxxx.com,xxxxx.com

Dear

Thank you for your assistance helping us verify that you are indeed the rightful
owner of the domain(s) you've listed in your account. As everything checks out
OK,
we have gone ahead and listed your domain(s) for sale on our marketplace.

Good luck selling your domains!

Sincerely,

Your Sedo Team

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

On the same subject, kind of, I was recently negotiating the purchase of profootballonline.com, via sedo, but come to find out that the guy negotiating with me DOES NOT EVEN OWN THE DOMAIN. Whats up with that?

Email from *real* owner of this domain:

Jeff, someone is trying to steal your money. I own this name. It is
registered at Godaddy.com. And, I have this domain name locked down. So,
no one can get this domain name. I wasn't the one who made this counter
offer. Like I said in a previous email. I don't have this
www.profootballonline.com site for sell at sedo.com. You are being
scammed.

Another problem at SEDO is that when a domain expires they don't remove it from their list. Sometimes when I've nothing better to do I use xdomain spybot to scan for expired names in their list. I've found a few gems that way.

Afternic must scan whois regularly because the other day they reminded me of a domain that was about to expire that I thought I had renewed.
Many Thanks to my friends at Afternic!

with a proxy protected name regged with namecheap, one can lift it for sedo, and then put it back on, but with GD once lifted its gone. namedrive is not a problem with proxy protected names.

Nice input. First of all i'm surprised to hear sedo allowed this domain to be listed without making the ownership verification first. I thought i was the first one to get away from the system, it seems like some folks are already there.

You will never be scammed if you go through the escrow unless if you're trying to be greedy and negotiate the offer directly. Escrow is part for the service and part as an insurance for the transaction. The only thing you lose in this bogus offer is your exhilaration of victory.

PS: I'm sure most of the people here on namepros would dispute my statement about sedo's credibility on sales. You have to leverage your domain exposure in order to achieve high sales. For some people it might be Afternic, some would prefer sedo or even some would bear ebay's flag to be best place to sell your virtual properties. Different strokes for different folks.

No mystery -- by the time your reply got to them, they were probably able to verify ownership once the whois got updated. That's why they listed your domains.

Well.. well.. well.. Sedo lists even non-existing domains! See here

The .sc registry is selling *.com.sc domains, while here some1 is trying to sell com.sc for $3500!

Gene, i think you didn't get my point.

This is not the first time Iโ€™m submitting proxy registered domain with them. I mailed them on the first occasion explaining my situation.

This time, i just submit these names knowing they'll get rejected due to anonymous ID. I just didn't bother. If they wish to list then i am happy customer otherwise i just can't be bothered. I just ignored their emails regarding ownership verification then out of sudden they confirmed by ID and listed my names. Some of my previously submitted names are been rejected.

Now i have 2 questions.

1. Is godaddy revealing my personal information? or
2. Is this a dereliction of sedoโ€™s core principals?

On the first case, Iโ€™ll be furious. I don't want companies to reveal my personal information. On the second case i just don't bother, good for them and good for me and good for everyone.
