Hi guys,

I think I have an interested buyer for my domain name and we have been going back and forth several times, so I wanted to ask for some help to avoid scaring him off.

According to Sedo, the buyer just made his account this month. The price I'd like to get for the name is 9k (post-fees, so really like $10590). He started at 1k, I countered with 17k, he went to 4k, i went to 14.5k, he went to 5.5k, i went to 13k, he went to 6k, i went to 12k, and finally he has gone to 6.5k...what should be my next move?

Thanks!

It all depends on the domain... if your domain is truly premium I'd hold out for your target price... but if your domain is something with a reseller value of $XXX, I'd take the 6.5K

I agree with mjb here...

It really does depend on the name. If you're holding a one-word .COM or something that is truly premium then you should hold off until you get what you are wanting for it. Consider starting to drop your counter offers down by only one or two hundred instead of one or two thousand..This should show him that you're getting towards the minimum amount you are willing to accept.

If the name isn't premium..If we're talking some two-word .COM that isn't really one-of-a-kind, then I would take the $6.5 and be happy with it.

Educate your buyers by telling benefit of the domain names, also tell current market trends if it is positive for your domain name.

And don't leave money on the table.

If you have bought in 1k and you are getting 6K so that is the problem?

Educate your buyers by telling benefit of the domain names, also tell current market trends if it is positive for your domain name.

I would disagree with this one. If the person/company wants your domain it means that they already know what they want it for (especcially in this situation - the fact that the buyer's account at Sedo is new means that this person rather is not domainer - so it means he want domain not for resell).
In this particular situation - if the OP would start to inform them about the benefits (on this step of negotiations) in my opinion he would look a bit desperate.
Just my opinion :)
