I'm trying to sell a domain name. I have compiled a list of potential buyers whom I intend to contact soon.

What should I do?

a) At first take offers (if I get any :P) and then put the domain name on auction
b) Put it on auction right away

What works best for you?

EDIT:
I just learned that you need to receive an offer before you can start an auction ;)

We have a rule we're trying for the next 3 months for End-User sales:

a) Fixed price on all of our names.
b) No negotiation, no haggling, no auctions.
c) Set at a price we would never be upset about losing the domain for but is also affordable (most domains have been set at around $1400).

We then use the Domain Distribution Network, Sedo, Afternic, and Fabulous' Lander System to market the domains and have enabled instant transfer. If the end user decides "I want this" they punch in their Credit Card and that's that - the domain is transferred in just 60 seconds automatically and we get paid. If they don't want to pay that amount, they don't get the name - simple and non-negotiable.

We still pursue some reseller channels to sell as well though at which are prices can be lower and certainly are flexible. But in general, prices are now fixed, firm, and transfers are automatic/immediate.

[Edit: And this will be my next blog post too! Thanks for the idea.]

have enabled instant transfer.

Hi,

Can you please elaborate on how you setup instant transfer with multiple domain listing houses (sedo, buydomains etc).

Thanks in advance!

You don't. You set it up through the Domain Distribution Network and it's distributed via your Fabulous.com Parked Domains and via Registrars.
