Looks sellers get some very good bid.

You Domain must got an offer before list for Bidding. Sad that I don't have any name has offer at this moment

I listed another auction at Sedo now.

The Domain is PrCheck.com.

I started the Auction 2 days after I got the offer for some reasons, and find there has a serious problem: Sedo doesn't caculate your 7 days from the time you raised the Aution. They use the time when you got the offer as the starting time of your auction.

So my name has 4 days and 23 hours auction time infact. I face a big risk to lose my money for this auction...

Well here is a summery of the sale of Sex.St as promised.

Final Price £1,500 ($2,845)

The bidding went in fits and starts, first couple of days saw the price rise from£350 up to £510, then a hiatus of 2 days, then bidding rose to £610, then another hiatus until today. With about 5 hours to go the price rose to £950, then a buyer came in with less than half an hour to go and bid up to £1,500.

I think the buyer got a bargain, and by the way he bid I think he did too.

There are several problems at the moment with the auction. But ones that I have not read about here before are:

1) I could not change the description of the domain when it had entered the auction.

2) A lot of seasoned domainers are against entering into the auction arena.

3) People have not been informed of the auctions (here I mean advertisements in major papers etc. to the general public, I do not mean domainers).

4) A particular gripe of mine is the extra fee charged by Sedo for ccTLD's. (I could understand this if it were linked to the amount of work involved for Sedo of transferring the domain, but it isn't.)

Well 2 auctions down and 2 to go. Tomorrow the auction for XXX.St ends, and a couple of days later so does Mortgage.St. Still not a bad week!

Now I just need to keep the momentum going and get offers on other domains!

It is actually a lot less than offers I had recieved prior to putting into auction! As I said someone got a bargain (and I mean a real bargain). I am not angry please don't think that, but annoyed with myself for thinking the auctions would be immediately more popular than they are, that was a bad judgement call on my part!

This is obviously the gamble we all take when we send domains to auction. Sex.st should have made a minimum five figure sum, now I have to lick my wounds and carry on. The worst thing of all though is I have XXX.st going today and mortgage.st in 2 days about to go for peanuts as well on the Sedo auction.

Damitssam, if your after bidding on XXX.st it finishes today in just over 8 hours time! Present price £350! Yes that is £350, about $664! If this goes for anything under £2,500 (~$5,000) then I am definately out of pocket.

My advice to sellers is that at the moment you negotiate with your potential buyers, the Sedo auction format is definately not producing the goods at the moment. I am now going to have to go through my entire portfolio and price every domain individually, oh what fun!

Yes, but try to time it so that it ends during business hours! (Europe or US or whatever, depending on your target market). It's no good to have your name appear on SEDO's front page during the wee hours...

I would think that most people would go to auction when a bid is acceptable to the seller.

If that is correct, and looking at the number of auctions there are no where near as many offers around as there were last year and earlier this year. Even from my own portfolio which has some good names JMO offers have all but dried up - any body else seeing a similar trend :?

Yes... I was just trying to avaoid the Weekend (I got the offer on Sat.), then I lost 2 days of displaying my Domain to possible buyers ...

Well, XXX.St sold for £600 (~$1,138).

I only have one domain name still in auction at Sedo, Mortgage.St, and I think that will be my last one I let go through to auction, current price with leass than 2 days to go is a pathetic $510. (My fault for lowering my reserves, no one to blame but myself!)

I do not think I was being greedy but the general opinion was a minimum of $15,000 for the two adult domains, this means a loss of $11,000 on what was expected as the minimum. I see I am not the only one to have got a poor price for their domains.

I reckon that too few people know about the auction and also that too many domainers are steering clear at the moment, so I will be giving them a wide birth for the foreseeable future.

Good luck to the buyers of both Sex.St and XXX.st, I may feel a little bit beat-up about the prices but I do wish you all the best with the domains, I would have snapped off someones hands at those prices myself.

I feel for you thebaldone. .ST IMO is a great EXT (although i wouldnt pay XX,XXX for any one since i am cheap bastard ). IMO you should only auction once someone offers an acceptable mininum you will take.

Hey gang, have a question for you. If you get an offer on a domain, and you counter ... if the person comes back with a new offer that's acceptable, can you then accept that one and send it to auction? Or is your only chance to send to auction on the first offer?

I suspect it's the former, but wanted to make sure before I counter.

I know now!

The four domains that ended up in auction all offers were made in just a few days of each other! Accepting tem and putting into the Sedo auction is a mistake that has cost me, I just hope others learn from my mistake, I know I have.

With an hour to go it looks like Mortgage.St, one of the best financial domains, is going to go for about 3% of its lowest appraisal! Well as I said to the buyers of Sex.St and XXX.St - congratulations, you're only doing what I would do in your situation.

All Sedo buyers are now certified, If he/she does not complete the sale they will not be able to do further business with Sedo.

If it does not complete then Sedo will supply you (on request) with the buyers info which you can then publish on the various forums/ blogs to ensure maximum exposure and embarrassment to the "buyer" and to make others aware that this "buyer" is untrustworthy. :td:
