Sedo alternatives

Hi guys,

I've been using Sedo for some years. But the commission they take from me is often $200 for the ccTLDs I sell. I don't mind if they take this much because they provide trust to buyer and my domains are probably sold faster because they're hosted on Sedo (not sure if this is true). However, I am really frustrated with their transfer help. They don't provide the right steps and they are not proactive. I often deal with all the things myself (I know I have to but they sort of promised/promoted that they'll help). They became a barrier to me. A domain is often transferred successfully using about a month's time. If I were to deal it directly with a buyer, I can have it settled within a week - but obviously not all buyers trust me so they prefer middleman service.

I wonder if Flippa is a good alternative? They have a lower fee AFAIK. But I am not sure if listing on Flippa will somehow affect the speed of my domains being sold?

Sorry I am somewhat between novice and intermediate in domain selling. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you. :)

There is escrow for situations of limited trust. You could have your own marketplace site/landers and advertise payment options like escrow that provide buyers with peace of mind.
If you're doing sales on a regular basis, it may be a god idea to incorporate (if you haven't already) and enjoy tax benefits and asset protection.
Perhaps buyers will trust an established company more than an individual.

Which ccTLDs are you dealing with ?

Hi Kate,

I tried escrow.com once, but it's taking a bit of time and a bit more complicated than dealing on Sedo. So ended up that particular buyer (who test escrow.com with me) decided to just deal without any escrow services.

I am currently dealing more of .mk and .ci domains. They're two letter domain names. As well as some three letter domain names with the extension of .bz and .ee.

Sorry to hear that your experience with the transfers were not as you had hoped for. If you let me know which domain transfers were affected, I can check out what happened.

Also, if you want a trusted intermediary to handle the funds, and still want to handle the technical transfer yourself, we do have an escrow service in place: https://sedo.com/us/services/domain-transfer-service/escrow/
