Anyone know any tricks of the trade to help increase search engine ranking by keyword? I have listed zandale.com and it is showing up in some but not having much luck with "keyword" results. Might have to result to ppc.

Any tips would help.

i've been reading lots and lots about search engine marketing and the first thing I advised you NOT to do is submit your site using a software like SubmitWolf, AddWeb etc... You won't ever successfully get indexed into the major search engines. You only need to submit your site to 3-4 search engines as they get 95% of the web traffic. Stay off scams that say: we submit your site to 600,000 engines and what not.
Second, I would make use meta-tag (google doesn't really use it but others do) and it is VERY crucial to mention your targeted keywords as early as possible on your page. I would recommend the title and in the header like <h1>.. etc.

I use a high end submission software and it has been very effective.

Well, it will submit your website to several engines, but nowadays search engines are implementing a human check at submission (like you have to enter a code) and AltaVista is one that requires it. I'm sure soon others will start doing that too.
Basically those submission softwares submit your site to FFA (Free For All Links) lists, but those aren't weighed by smart engines (like google) anymore. In addition, you will just risk getting more spam into your mailbox, so yea it's absolutely your choice.
I used to run a business few years back for website submission to like 600,000 search engines (I have a license for AddWeb www.addweb.com ) and it sure was effective, I made a lot of sales. But then again I had customers complaining them getting increased spam. So then I started reading about SEO and decided to quit this bulk submission market as its worthless.
Honestly, if you have a website that is important for you, I think you could take 15min of your time to submit it manually to the major search engines. I use this site for the links, www.manual-submit.com its great Hope I helped :blink:

My software has a screen to put in codes as it arrives at sites like Alta Vista. I aggree that there are a lot of scams out there though. My software has a junk email built in to collect all the spam that comes from the ffa sights.

I agree that there are 4 or 5 key engines, but hey, nothing wrong with getting the site out to other places. Visitors come from the strangest places, lol. And I only charge $5 to do it for namrpros members, so not really a big deal.

i'm a seo by trade, my opinion is you need to do your keyword research. I don't know what search terms you are currently targetting but i would suggest trying to find a certain niche high traffic keyword term and go for that.

Maybe terms like "register a domain" "register a domain name" etc, you should not aim for.. *well you could but theres 2.1 million for the 1st and 1.7 million results show up for the 2nd at google when searching those terms.

Do your research, the terms "cheap domains" and "cheap domain names" have just over 330,000 results show up at Google, so my logic is wow these might be worth targetting.

Body content matters, also check your site in the LYNX browser - http://www.delorie.com/web/lynxview.html to make sure you can navigate through your site. If you can not, search engine crawlers may have trouble navigating your site and indexing content.

Get yourself a Dmoz.org listing also consider submission to Joeant.com and Goguides.org.

Trade links with other sites and when they link to your, tell them to link with your main search term in the text.

well thats great sharpy, from the reports I believe you are using AddWeb. Seems like they have significantly approved their software. I bought a license for version 4 about 2-3 years ago. Well, best of luck in your business.

Yea, I agree with "sumthin", it sure does depend on the keyword. Webmasterworld.com and searchenginewatch.com are great resources if you want to read about SEO.

Your densitys are ok but your keyword choices are a little off. Certainly registration is a better word than register. You don't need zandale, it is definitley not needed in your meta tag. It's not a word anyone would ever type in. Maybe switch them around a bit and see what happens.

Here's the major reason why they are ranked #1 when "domains" is searched:

to be honest, its very competetive to try to rank under just a keyword. Most people do SEO in order to rank for keyword phrases like "expired domain name". Domain is a very generic word.

yep, seo's don't generally optimize for one words.
its quite difficult!
if you wanted too you would have to get alot of links with that word in the anchor text!!
especially in a competitive field like domain registration.

You might want to re-arrange, how your meta tags are presented. I not you have "title" then some JS then your keywords and desc

You need to lower the JS to just about the closing head tag, also you might want to consider your KW Density. Honestly, the WWD code will make it more difficult.

yeah, I second what CenterPoint said, also if you use css or javascript on your page, wrap it up in a file and link to it instead of pasting the whole code in the html file.
