OK... So if i wanted to distribute a script to a lot of people I would want some sort of licencing system. So with ioncube encyrption (to make the php unviewable) I was planing on creating a page (that was "required"/"included" on each page) which would find the referring URL and compare it to a list of URLs in our database and see if it is one that has a licence (the site will only have licenced URLs )

This seems to me to be a fairly good system .

Please post some faults/exploits you can see in it ;) Much appriciated

The one problem I see is the "finding a referral url" that can be altered to make it seem like somebody elses url. A better way of doing this is a simple number/letter combo.

Like Client 1 = Fjhg984gh493gFAGD)t3493t439tT( or something.. They enter that when they install and it checks for all the pages..

Another problem area, would be that ioncube can be reverse engineered. However it is still a stronger system than Zend. Plus Ioncube does not need the server admin to install a program, but you can upload it youself.

are you suggesting a code embedded into the php before the script is used...

Then it could be used on 10 sites and we would not know

how would people alter the refering URL ?

It would get nulled within 10 minutes.

People find it easy to "crack/compare" Zend and Ioncube code.

hmmm... so there is no point in paying for Ioncube credits ?

How do they hack and what do they compare to :S
