which can only be a good thing ;)

yea, especially for those that hold high value .sc domains - they could end up seeing a big increase in traffic!

I remember a guy on another forum always talking about this ccTLD. I think its about time Scotland got their own domain name.

Its going to be as successful as the .IM domain extension

Scotland is a country of 5.1 Million people so I think a lot of Scots will use it - I certainly will be. It will be comparable to eastern european countries such as Slovakia and Lithuania, and I think after two years we'll see about 100-150k regs. But who knows?

It may not be good from a resellers point of view, but this extension highlights "online independence", which is very important :)

Yeah, .sc, .so, .st, .sl, .sa, .sn, .sd are all taken.

I was hoping for .aa for "Alba", the Gaelic version of Scotland. Ach well!

Great, .co.uk investors will be sooooooooooooo happy. Bend at 90 degrees....the ICANN is coming...

And what are they planning to use:

.co.sco

or

.sco

?

This extension is badly needed. With Scotland potentially becoming independent by 2010, .co.uk is obviously not going to be very meaningful to a fully independent nation. It will be a while before .sco is actually in use so it may coincide with independence.

I do not agree with some of the comments. This is not money making machine, but a needed extention for a country. It has a purpose, businesses will use it, it is not something like .asia that is nonsense.

On the other hand, I agree that .sco looks strange, and ugly, country codes are associated with 2 letter tld's.
If .cat exist though why wouldn't .sco?

But, I think the reseller market will be very limited, and time will be needed till locals will get used to the ext (if approved)
