а если често то я непонимаю одного, разве удобно писать название домена в начале по русски, а потом переключатся на английский чтобы дописать .com ?

forexusa, your concern is that IDN might not perform well in the future because it is not practical to write cyrillic and then switch the keyboard language to english for the ".com".

The thing is that the best IDNs, russian, japanese, chinese you name it, are already showing increasing traffic and revenue, regardless of the keyboard switching obstacle. Russia among other countries, is a country where people would rather type in their own language, rather than english. Given the possibility to do so, I believe that public awareness wil increase in the next few years and popularity of IDNs will increase logarithmically.

There is a plan under discussion, called DNAME mapping. The plan suggests that when someone types .КОМ, the browser will automatically translate it into the latin ".com". Should Dname mapping be adopted(and it will, most likely) then there would be no boundaries for IDN growth.

Should this happen, the names I am selling today for as low as $XXX, will receive enourmous type in traffic and will be worth much, much more than that. They are one-two word generic with very high search ratio and they will among others be ranked high in search engines, should the owner develop a website on them.
