I was wondering if anyone knows what the rules are for selling domains privately here at the forum.

I searched and I can't find anything about this anywhere.

Is it OK to offer domains for sale to members through PM, for example?

Must all domains be listed for sale on the marketplace, publicly?

Does anybody know the answer to this?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
1. Do not spam members in/via PM. Unless, you have discussed prior, such as in a thread or chat.

Unwritten rule.

That goes without saying.

What I want to know is, is it OK to make a deal to sell a name to another member without listing the name on the NP marketplace?

Or is it required to only sell names publicly?

Sure why not...

You enter it at your own risk, as your aware I'm sure.

Example:
(You) on a thread, "I have 1 word dot coms for sale. PM me if interested"
you get PM's.
Private discussion.
Don't have to list domain at all.
Cheers

People/members are doing deals via PM everday...take a look at the "request a domain" thread...

here's a scenario

say you're in chat on one of the promo days and you list of few of your names.

then someone who is watching, uses whois... as a part of their "due diligence" procedure, contacts you via email.

at that point, you practice the rules of professionalism and engage accordingly.

:)

imo.....
