im confused.. are people on namepros allowed to post threads about ongoing active gd or otherwise public auctions? which aren't their own?

how is this fair to potential bidders?

and if there is an official rule against then why would such rule be allowed to be bypassed if such a thread is a paid advertizement.

does it mean we can pay here to break rules?

Hello,

Here's the relevant rule:
  • Rule 2.3. Do not promote or discuss for-sale listings or active auctions (scheduled or ongoing) except in the marketplace (rule 6.1.1 applies). Auctions that have ended or been cancelled may be discussed in discussions sections.

All rules about promotion are not applicable to paid advertisements on NamePros.

We didn't realize that needed to be stated, but we'll look into updating the rules to make it clear.

ok then. i respect this decision and rule on your part. even though we all understand that those paid ads create same damage for which you have created this rule to begin with. but I do respect and understand the need for funding. regards.

What do you think is going on here?

People's picks with affiliate links.
We don't have any paid ads in that section at the moment.

All of the affiliate revenue goes to the members creating the content.

Your post has helped us realize that there are currently two sections not reflected by the "active auction" rule, and we need to add them as exceptions to the rule:

Thanks.
