Rugby scrums

There has been alot of mentioning on the news etc. of the posibility of someone suggesting that rugby union abandons scrums! that is ludicrous...apparently there is a risk of spinal injury, well we know that and if people dont want to get hurt then dont play it.

taking away scrums will take the heart out of rugby, whats your opinions?

Without Scrums you may aswell be playnig tag rugby.
You'll get hurt in whatever sport you do, and they're just going over the top on health issues.

Scrums, In my opinion are one of the best things about rugby.

yup, and there are less injuries in scrums than in the rest of rugby, its more controlled than tackling...and who wants rugby without scrums!

And what do they propose the scrum be replaced with? A ball up? Lets scrap the rules against offside and the forward pass and play on a cricket pitch while were at it

I think they will make the uncontested and no pushing .... next itll be no tackling and all you have to do is pass the ball down the line and then give the ball back nciely to the other team once you have scored

They cant do that, ofcourse theres going to be some risk, look at what your playing. But if you get low enough, have some good drive behind it youll be fine.

The best thing to do is just go down if you get pushed back to much else your back will criple, I know from experience.

Wheres the fun if we sit in lawnchairs all day because everything is dangerous and bad for our health.

personally i think they wont be able to ban it because of the uproar it wil cause, and if they do someone with some power and money will form ANOTHER code of rugby with the same rules that there are now, so there will be union, league and union with scrums :P
