USA rugby league???

hi,

im from the north of the england. A very big sport here is rugby league, similar to rugby union. I am very passionate about it.

I was doing some checking around and it seems that in the USA there are a number a teams all across the US.

I just wanted to know if any one on here as heard of it / watch it or even played it?

Yes, I've seen it played here in the States. Looks pretty cool, though I don't understand it. There's a local university team, Cal (UC-Berkeley), that is probably the best amateur team in the country.

It's physical, but I still don't think it compares to American football. Yeah, they wear padding, but the hits they deliver are more violent than anything I've seen in my (limited) viewing of rugby.

But years ago in Golden Gate Park I did watch something called "Irish football". Or was it "Gaelic football"? Whatever it was, it was the roughest sport I've ever seen. Now those guys are CRAZY!

Yeh i've heard of it , im from the UK though so cant help you on any US teams... Its a good sport but it nowhere near compares to union! and its nowhere near as popular as union in the south of england.

My god them hits must hurt like mad though! the person tackling must hurt too!

I am a Queenslander (Australia) so Rugby League is the main football here. Therefore unfortunately I cannot help you with the US side of things but would also be quite interested in finding out about the sport over there also. I must say that from what I have seen of American Football it seems much like playing football in them giant sumo suits there is that much padding. To me it would just soften the game down too much. Go Rugby League!!
