RSS feed/ general info question

im developing a general information site on all recent technology and i was wondering if an RSS news feed would hurt or help the site? is it considered original content? the site will consist of all my original content, but id like to have a section that has an rss feed consisting of the most recent tech news - any suggestions?

IMO it is a good idea if, as you say, it is ancillary to the main content. In that case it won't hurt your site. I never heard of RSS feeds hurting a site anyway, but I can see how some people would use them to be lazy, and that, perhaps, could eventually hurt because of the lack of actual updates.

But like I said, I never heard of anyone being penalized.

If you are looking for an aggregator - They are on and off for subscription, but you can try http://www.feeddigest.com because you can have the feeds outputed in HTML, which can be read by Search Engines. This of course won't hurt your site


I also use http://rssfeedreader.com/ on some sites, but I prefer the former.

You have to register to both services but they aren't spam-driven at all. Only received one "follow-up" email so far.
