Hey guys an gals.

A while back, I knocked up a small site about VOIP, which you can see here

This afternoon, I was looking through the logs of the site, and came across this one ... http://4kk.zj.com/index.html

It is a complete copy of mine. All they have done is defaced my original logo, and changed the adsense code to their own adsense account.

Now I will admit that the site itself was very basic, and was just developed to have something operating on the domain until I had more time to put together something I have in mind.

Just wondering if there is anything I can do about this ?? The fact they left my little Copyright 2005 text on the bottom of the pages kind of p*sses me off.

Anyway, just wondering if and what I can do about this ??

Thanks for reading

Alex

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

as Andy stated, contact their webhost! They will deal with the problem if they are a professional host.

Man! I love how even the logo is your graphic with bits rubbed out and changed. Pathetic!
The owner of that site is someone that might actually be worth going after. I'd talk to a lawyer and see if they think it would be worth pursuing.

I reall don't think there is anything you can do, beyond be pissed.

Considering they were stupid enough to leave your copyright text on the page it shouldn't be hard to prove that they stole it from you. I'd contact their host first, any good host will investigate and handle it.

I will say 1 thing about their site... It took 10 times longer to load then yours, the graphics were still not done when i left.

Few things you can do
Contact their host
Contact google get them baned.

just contact their host, and them. i'd say to contact them first to give them the chance to discontinue the use of your copyrighted material, and if that fails, then you get the host involved

Thanks for the replies everyone. I will set about contacting both them and the host and see how it goes. Anyone got any idea how I can actually find out who is hosting that site ??

Well contact them soon as they havent changed as yet.But there is one thing that is very common layout and available at free templates website so please make sure everything on your site is done custom by you and not taken from anywhere.

Coz this type of templates are easily available and thousands of people do use it.Anyways you can always contact their host when you know you are at right place.

Thanks.

These things dont help someone copied stuff of my site and their site was on theplanet and i been waiting now for over 1 month for some action to be taken by theplanet . So if theplanet can not do nothing , than no one can do anything .

All u can do is contact bbb.com or something or contact ur lawyer if u have one.

Well the design was done by myself - no templates used at all. I made the menu was made using a menu making program, so the overall design itself was all mine. I wouldnt really be so bothered, but the fact that they havent even tried to change anything round ( apart from the logo and Google adsense code ) is what I am annoyed about. I mean, most of the content was from Wiki anyway as I state on the pages.

Thanks

The site is hosted in China, so very unlikely that they would take any action.

Your only recourse is to contact their registrar onlinenic.com at http://www.onlinenic.com/support/

and also file a notice of infringement at http://www.google.com/dmca.html

both of which I am not familiar. I would go all out if I were to face with such a situation and make sure that chap doesn't make money off my content.
