I was reading this morning and came across an article on one of my favorite blogs, DomainGang. The article was about the domains Rick Schwartz recently registered. Here's the list I saw, and I've added some of the reg dates.

What do you think about Rick's registrations?

I guess there are still lots of great available domains! I definitely feel that way after looking at these registrations. :)

I wonder how much these would go for here on NP?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
If all domains above was mine, they became useless :xf.rolleyes:

Why would I possibly want any of those names?

I saw a video once where @Rick Schwartz talked about the importance of registering domains that are a "business in a box".
I'm not sure that some of those meet that criteria.

I don't judge what other people register but it would be great to get some insight. I didn't even know about the awards ceremony. Maybe they will be hot property!

I think he is smarter than all of this......

he is throwing some junk our way so that we will register similar which takes the focus off what he is really doing. I think he is up to something and this is all a ruse to draw our attention away from something else. He is probably one of the most watched men in the industry so he is giving us something to talk about while he is putting together some real deals in the background.

Hmmm...the list looks a bit odd to me...accept for lasvegas.foundation

but may be he had done some SEO

Not sure about these registrations, but Rick is a legend. Can you believe people used to send him available domains in the mid 90's, such as f***.com, and he would pay them $50 for sending him the name? My point is that over the last 2 or more decades Rick has always seen value where others haven't.
may be he had done quite a ton of R&D

LasVegas.Foundation only, rest is crap

To my eye, these seem like pure traffic plays. I don't think he anticipates selling any of them...

Exactly, I have observed Rick going after type in traffic domains.

These are exact match domains, aka "long tail" domains, and rarely have type-in traffic. They won't reap any SEO benefits unless developed.

LasVegas.Foundation is a good catch, it seems the name has standard renewal and it goes well together. Person who is that experienced is imo capable to sell it for pretty high price.

The rest I personaly do not feel so much, but chances are there are some good reasons behind those regs as well :)
