domain Ribosomes.info

I love cell biology and I had money in my account that I couldn't transfer back to my paypal so I bought Ribosomes.info. I'm a bit too lazy to develop it right now, so what do you think this domain is worth undeveloped?

I reluctantly have to say $0 I'm afraid. Ribosomes is such a niche area. In any event, anyone wishing to develop a website with ribo info could just as easily have ribosomesinfo.com or any one of a hundred variations. So specific is the subject area.

I agree its specific but its still a one word domain, when people search for ribosomes they're usually looking for information so I don't think the extension hurts the domain. Thanks for the appraisal though

From a development standpoint the problem is your competition will be a bunch of .org, .edu and .gov research sites. It makes it hard to rank well. When I did a Google search for the term there are no ads and Wikipedia is at the top

Yeah I agree with that.. don't think anybody would pay for ads that are related to cellular biology. I still find ribosomes fascinating so I'm really happy with this domain :D

I can appreciate that since I still have a weakness for domains related to forest ecology. I registered quaking-aspen.com years ago. Some day I will put a copy of my dissertation up there and prove more people will read it on the web than will ever dig a copy out of the library.

That said, there is value in a website written from personal interest in a subject. It may never have ads, but if you can attract some readership and links it's a great source of link juice you can point toward other, more commercial, sites you may develop.
