Rewritable cd on xp

I can't seem to use my rewritable cd's on my Windows XP machine, I can burn files to cd but when I try to use one of my cd-rw's it asks if I want to reformat the disk. Any ideas?

I used to use Adaptec's DirectCD but that's incompatible with Windows XP.

i think you have to use adaptec itself to write and erase easy... and my kind suggestion is that never use directcd.. instead use rewritable cds
