the main page needs a focal point. what's the most important element? what do you want people to be sure to see? what do you want them to see first? when you answer those question, design it to make sure that is where our eyes land first.
right now, it's jumbled. after the logo (i like the fun lettering, by the way), the first thing i focus on is your shout out to bing. it's too prominent. it's prominence, and the other thing about bing later on, results in bing being the 'star' of the page.
next i see the box with the words "Welcome to WebAunt. Have a good stay. Browse our articles."
ok, you're inviting us to browse your articles, but nothing about the design or the copy so far gives us a clue as to what kind of site this is. 'web aunt' tells us nothing (tho the name is vaguely suggestive in some way of...something) and i can't tell what relevance the paw print has to the name or to the site. even your navigation bar is cryptic. it has no links to any topics, which contributes to the feeling that this is a site about nothing in particular.
'christ the redeemer' in bold type gave me the impression this was a religious site, but when i read the copy it seemed like just a random factoid put there, i guess, to justify the photos.
ah, down at the bottom i see that this is to be a 'general' site with information about 'many subjects.'
not good. 'general' is great if you're salon.com with an array of talented contributors addressing a wide variety of regimented topics. but i see no reason for anyone but your friends and family to visit web aunt. there is no compelling subject to draw readers/users and no keywords in the name that anyone will ever search for. since you won't attract motivated users, who will click on your ads and why will they click on them?
i hope you don't think i'm being harsh or excessively critical. i'm giving you the kind of comments that i would want to receive - it's one person's honest, objective reaction to the site.
websites need to be driven by passion - either a passion for the topic, a passion to provide a service, a passion to make money or even just a passion to learn how to create a site. i don't get a sense of passion or direction from web aunt.
