Reselling network style domains in bulk?

I was thinking about starting up a small network of sites for a couple of games that I am interested in, then I started thinking. What if I bought a bunch of domains that fit a network style? Something like Gamespy's Planet sites or FileNetworks xxxxfiles.com sites. Then I just resell the domains in bulk. Do you think that would be worthwhile and see some sort of a return, or would it just be a waste of money?

Its not just buying domains but there is marketing involved. Successful domain sellers have some sort of marketing plan and not just parking it somewhere with a forsale page or posting a list on a forum every now and then. Your answer if its "worthwhile", would depend on your efforts but there is that very slim chance that one day somebody just contacts you and offers you 6 figures for a domain (s) but lets face it, those numbers & days are rare and even the big publicized sales these days can be fake and part of some marketing tactic.
