I have some very good news for ALL designers & contest holders within NamePros :tri:

Our loyal Leader, RJ, has given his blessing (for now) on authorising certain contest holders with an official "Tag/Logo" showing they have held contests, have given good feedback and selected a winner from NamePros.

This is something many people have requested and I'm pleased to say, due to the speed and recognition that NamePros gives it's community, we can now offer!

Something I need to emphasise immediately, is that the winning designer gets WAY MORE than purely cash. If this is a concern, I'll put up $15 dollars for this, but any good designer will know the money is worth little, compared to the "bragging" rights over the fact you designed this for the NamePros Design Contest Forums. The generous staff at NamePros have agreed to put up NP$ 750 for this competition, but I don't honestly believe any designer will accept. Then again, I've been proven wrong before.

So, what are the terms of this contest:

Type of Contest : TAG/Other
Prize : Reputation, Bragging rights and NP$750.00
Contest End Date & Time : Sunday 1st October 6.00pmGMT
Size Requirements : 17pixels height, 50 pixels width MAX! (30 pixels min!)
Colour Requirements : Open, however BG MUST be : #e1e4f2
General Requirements :
this is up to you as a designer. I know the dimensions are problematic, but the respect and credit received, out weighs this any day of the week, imo.!

Additional Information :
The word OFFICAL is not allowed. Approved is a preferable alternative.
Update : NO Animation please.

In General, you guys have asked for this, and we have delivered. The hardest part is going to be picking the right "Tag/Logo" for it. Call it pixel art if you prefer, and YES, we know it's not easy.....but remember, the fact YOUR design is there for all to see...... *grins*

I wont be entering this comp, for 1) obvious reasons but b) It's YOUR forums. You contribute...

two of my fave faves is jackieh1791 and koncept...

I shouldn't name names cause there are many others I reallllly like as well...

Nice to see lots of people contributing to this contents

With regards to the background, I did mention that it MUST be a certain color. If the background is effectively a "button" which some of these have been, then that ok. When I pushed the BG color, it was more aimed at "text only" or "text with a mini image" designs (Like QuickGolds and Ami's)

FeedBack:

Ami : Not to bad. I'm still not sure of the heavy use of red and blue. However, that being said, it is very clear to read. Joint #3 I would say atm

Jon : In the larger image it looks good. Put down to the challanging sizes were working with, the tick seems to go grainy. If it was a report card, it might say "could do better" lol

Virgil : Not bad entries here. #1 & #4 stand out. #1 as it sums it up completely. however, #4 has a "icon" to it, and that is really appealing to me. I would say you've earn't yourself a Joint #3 spot with Ami, however, I would have to choose one of them, and I'm not sure which one yet

Mog : I like these designs, however they seem a "little" plain. Not entirely sure why. The red seems to detract a little from the text. It works well with the black marking around it, but I think it would make it sit a little awkwardly with the other logos in the public profile.

So, the latest running order is as follows :

#1 - QuickGold is still holding the top spot
#2 - Jay "JUST" clinging onto his spot....we're talking fingernails here.
#3 - Virgil & Ami are chasing the pack and not that far behind.

Please remember, just because I personally rate QuickGold as the best one, doesnt mean he has or is going to win. Those people in the top 3 slots will have their designs put to the vote by the staff. I've given this some thought and have NOT had it signed off by RJ yet, however, I'm leaing towards the Staff and Admins selecting their prefered 2 "tags" with the final choice going to public vote here, in the DC Forum.

So, open up Photoshop / PaintShopPro and get designing folks....24 hours left in this comp.

Feedback:

Zalaki - It's a little to blocky and AC doesnt quite sound right. It needs to be fairly clear from the view what it means. Thanks for the entry tho

Jon - Thanks for the revisions. I dont think it's going to hold enough weight to make the final selections however. Again, this is just my opinion

QuickGold - Thanks for the "merged" images. I have to say, I'm liking these alot. I think one of your deisgns will definately be in the final 3/3 selections.

KampKrusty - It is clean and simple. Could we see it on the relevant background like the others please? Whats the reason for the "blue splodge" ? What is it saying? orrrr..is it just a colourful blue splodge? lol

Ami - I still like the red/blue one. The others are a little to plain for my liking.

Jay - I think the revised one is harder to read than the first one. The "flash of light" in the middle is messing with the text. Again, just my opinion



As we move closer to the deadline, I have been speaknig with RJ about the design and what is wanted/required to make it into the winning selection. The agreed feedback as a whole is that we would want it as text sitting on the relevant background color (the grey as mentioned in the first post) with a logo of some sort. Borders around the image is also a no no. The reason for this is that it would detract from other addons that might come along in the future and it will stay with the present styles that are there.

With this in mind, I would put the positions as :

#1 - QuickGold
#2 - ami / Jay
#3 - Virgil


Now, we have decided that when the contest officially closes, we will be reviewing ALL of the images in the thread. The NP Staff will then select 3, possibly 4 designs that top the contest. This will then goto a 24 hours vote within the DC Forums for everyone to vote. Once the 24 hours is up, the winner will be the one who, strangely enuogh, has the most votes

There's still time to get an entry in and remember, work no the basis of text and a logo, on the grey background
