Type of Contest : LOGO Design

Prize : $25.00

Contest End Date & Time : Monday, January 31, 2011 @ 5 PM EST. I'm providing a bit of extra time since the NFL season is wrapping up soon.

Size Requirements : ~250px x 100px (vector)

Color Requirements :I would like to keep this clean and simple. I need to be able to screen-print this logo. The colors should convey a sense of craftsmanship, since this is a woodworking forum (greens, yellows, orange, browns, etc.), preferably with bright white or silver text. The forum header (background) is going to be a dark olive color, so keep that in mind.

General Requirements : I would like to incorporate a saw blade into the logo. I need this supplied in PNG and EPS. This logo must incorporate "Woodworking Forum" and ".org" into the logo.

Additional Information : I have a lot of other work coming up, so the production of quality work could result in having me hire you directly on future projects.

Here's my submission :

BasementDomains, could you stack the "woodworking" over the rest of the words? Sort of offset a bit, and remove the shadow at the bottom. You're off to a great start.

dlight, I love those. Could you tweak the saw just a bit so that it has the floor plate and blade guard:

BasementDomains, can I see that on a green background.

This contest is quickly drawing to a close. dlight, if you could make the following adjustments, I think you've got it. I didn't realize the blade guard was on backward, and there needs to be a small front grip and a trigger. That's it.

I had a hard time judging this contest because I liked multiple logos, and three designers stood out in particular: BasementDomains, swiss2000, and dlight.

In the end, I decided to conduct a poll at the hospital. I surveyed 30 doctors, nurses, and hospital staff to see which logo they preferred. There was a dead tie between BasementDomain's submission and dlight's submission (11 votes each) with swiss2000's entry receiving 8 votes.

The tie breaker was a "best of 5" coin toss. Using one of the parking tokens here at Children's Hospital.

With that said, the contest winner is: dlight
